So this video is supposed to be a test about racism....yet no where does the actor that people are supposed to object to mention race. He says the the 'customers' that he wont serve them because they don't speak English. That is a perfectly rational and defensible objection. In this country private proprietors (for now anyway) reserve the right to refuse service to ANYONE. But he doesn't turn them away because of race, he turns them away because they don't speak our language.
The second man said that if the proprietor didn't understand 'the way things are done in america' he should leave. If the illegals don't respect this country enough to come here legally and dont actually want to be a part of the country enough to learn the language THEY should leave. They are an insult to legal immigrants and to those who make sure to learn the language to respect the country that is giving them opportunity.
This is a sicking video that shows complete intolerance and a perversion of the problems TRUE racism creates.

I am so god tired of being called a racist. Every tv station & every newspaper saying our opposition to Obama has 'obvious racial overtones'. You know, because no one has ever objected to a president before, and now, out of the blue! Gee someone doesn't like him! It must be because he is BLACK! Of course! Because NO black people object to him. And the majority of opposition is white(of course most of the country is white...). So when I see men like Harry Alford(see blog 'I Love Pudding') who understand business and economics and just happen to be black, standing up for what they believe in instead of toeing racial lines, it makes me want to shout at the top of my lungs for someone to pay attention and call out the media for their reprehensible libel against non-racist conservatives.
Al Gore meet Martin Luther
I am not a religious person. And as a libertarian I agree with the separation of church and state, to promote free and equal patriotism. But I still understand this country's religious founding and history. We were first settled by Protestants, we ere colonized by Protestants, for our first 180 years as a country all our presidents were Protestant. But this is not a blog on religion. Not a blog on how insulting and infuriating(even to me) Obama's statements about us not being a christian country were. Its a blog about Al Gore and carbon credits...
So lets go back to the founding of the protestants, back to a man named Martin Luther. In 1517, Martin Luther wrote a document called the 95 theses in which he called the Catholic Church out on things he felt they were doing against the will of God. The most prevalent of these complaints was about the sale of indulgences. In order to raise money for its own extravagant spending, the Catholic Church began selling forgiveness for sins, not yet commited. Those who could afford it could go to the church, tell them what sins they were planning to commit, the church put a price on the sin, it was paid and God forgave..ahead of time. Convientient no?
According to Al Gore and other global alarmists, carbon emissions may just be the devil. Carbon emissions (like those emitted by Gore's private jet and Hummer limo) are a sin that is destroying our planet. BUT- if you pay enough money (or show enough slide shows) you can get away with this horrific 'sin'.
As long as the Democratic party has enough of your money in their pockets to regulate some other sucker to reduce emissions, you are a green-eco-happy-efficient-weeds-coming-out-of-your-ears HERO!
So wake up everybody. Not only is Global Warming a complete crock, but those perpetuating it are only doing so for corrupt gain of money and regulatory powers.

Are We Waking Up?
I'm sitting outside on the UC Davis campus. Sometimes it's nice just to people watch and listen to the things people talk about.
What I hear is not necessarily the strong liberal slant you'd expect from a college, especially one like UC Davis.
I hear about the bailout package, the joke of the current administration, the fear of too much government control.
People who have liberal/democrat in their facebook profiles suddenly aren't standing in the party line anymore. People are starting to see through the media bias. We are starting to see that the proposed healthcare bill is ridiculous. We are starting to see that overspending isn't helping anything, that recovery takes time and time alone. We are starting to see a power hungry regime that is trying too hard to fulfill campaign promises without looking at the repercussions.
This is not to say that we have completely woken up yet, but we are certainly stirring. I think our generation in particular grows tired of party lines and things as they are. Say what you want about us, we want real solutions and real information. We aren't necessarily content with things being done as they always have, it's evident in the way we use technology, the way we learn, the way we work, the way we communicate.
There are plenty of us who give the youth a bad name. We are ignorant, lazy, unmotivated, etc. But there are plenty of us who are learning, who are motivated, who are informed. And we won't sit back and take things as they are given to us.
Maybe soon we will all wake up and prefer to get information the proper way, which is to say, we will get the truth. We will demand the truth.

Doublespeak
This may not be very political, but I love this song. It is called "Doublespeak" written by Thrice. The lyrics are based on the book 1984. I find them very scary and beautiful. Certainly a comment on our current political system and how the government needs to have less control before we end up in a situation like this. Anyway, here are the lyrics:
Thrice - "Doublespeak"
Thrice - "Doublespeak"
I drugged my heart with doublespeak
And all my misgivings disappear
It helps to keep my conscious clean
The ends will justify the means
And still I'm always careful what I hear
I don't wanna know who really pulls the strings
Just as long as it's not you or me
There's a jackboot toe tap keeping time
While the children dance and play
Honey if think you have seen a crime you just look the other way
I slowly cut my soul away
And piece by piece I sacrificed
To comfort and piece of mind
I keep my toes on the party line
There's nothing wrong dear don't think twice
I don't wanna know who really pulls the strings
Just as long as it's not you or me
There's a jackboot toe tap keeping time
While the children dance and play
Honey if think you have seen a crime won't you look the other way
There's a jackboot toe tap keeping time
while the children dance and play
Honey if think you have seen a crime won't you look the other
Look the other way
There's a jackboot toe tap keeping time
While the children dance and play
Honey if think you have seen a crime won't you look the other way
There's a jackboot toe tap keeping time
While the children dance and play
Honey if think you have seen a crime won't you look the other way
I drugged my heart with doublespeak
(I drugged my heart with doublespeak)
All my misgivings disappear
(all my misgivings disappear)
It helps to keep my conscious clean
(it helps to keep my conscious clean)
The ends will justify the means
(the ends will justify the means)
Still I'm always careful what I hear

Ted Kennedy
I feel like I should comment on the passing of Senator Ted Kennedy.
On one hand, you can't deny the impact Senator Kennedy had on politics during his life. Though I don't agree with many of the bills he supported and helped pass, it would be foolish and ignorant of me to deny that his work across party lines was not a true accomplishment.
I also cannot deny that the man went through quite a bit in his life with both his brothers being assassinated and the many other tragedies he suffered. He became 'surrogate' father for his brothers' 13 children. He was part of many influential campaigns and legislation and was a very influential politician overall, drawing respect from Democrats and Republicans alike.
But one has to wonder how much his name may have contributed to his standing. He was often reckless, a womanizer, and showed very poor judgment.
Though many will find issue with this, I simply cannot ignore the Chappaquiddick Incident. The incident in which Kennedy attended a party, took Mary Jo Kopechne for a drive in his vehicle, drove off a bridge, left her to drown, and failed to report this to authorities. Kennedy's story was never quite believable, as excuses of "shock, fear, a hope that Kopechne would have escaped the next morning," were all very questionable. The diver who retrieved Kopechne's body stated that she had an air bubble and very likely could have been saved if the incident had been reported in a timely manner. Other further investigations showed that Kennedy had been driving recklessly, did not show proper care in driving on the road, and that the purpose and destination of their drive was not as Kennedy had stated.
The legal system is what it is, but Massachusetts prosecutors agreed to a plea from Kennedy's attorney's that his sentence be suspended because of his "character and standing". Keep in mind that Kennedy was only sentence to two months of incarceration for simply leaving the scene of an accident after causing injury. So not only was the crime he committed reduced, but the sentence of that reduced crime was suspended.
Everyone welcomed Kennedy back with open arms, and he was a name mentioned in Presidential elections for the next 20-30 years. Though this incident likely prevented him from ever winning a Presidential election, the fact that he was still allowed to be in the senate and very active in politics after a very questionable incident like this is very interesting. Also the fact that much of the investigation on the incident was "kept in secret" or ignored altogether is very interesting.
Needless to say, recent politicians have been exonerated for cheating on their spouses, for their conduct in the military decades ago, for doing drugs during their college years, for the churches they go to, for the businesses they've worked with, for the things they've said...
Yet for all these years, we simply ignored the fact that Kennedy was a very direct cause to the death of a young woman and did nothing to save her when all he needed to do was report the incident?
As I said, Kennedy had quite an impact politically, but the pardon he received for this incident is further proof that government protects its own before protecting the people. He should've been tried fairly, should have been unable to run for President, and should have served jail time for this. The fact that none of this happened and that he went right back to his reckless, womanizing ways shows me that Kennedy wasn't very affected by the causes of his actions.
I guess living above the law is quite the privilege. What's even better is that when you die people praise you as if you were a saint.

Congressman Mike Rogers on Healthcare-Couldn't Have Said It Better Myself
Congressman Mike Rogers opening statements about healthcare. What is so disturbing about how close we are to actually having a govn't run system, is that none of the people pushing for it have actually read the thousand some-odd pages. They tell us that something is absolutely NOT in the bill, right up until(and sometimes even after) someone quotes the actual bill!!
If someone can show me the last time the government ran something with any kind of efficiency at all, much less the kinda that the private sector can provide, it would be a miracle. There are 80% of us that are satisfied with our healthcare, and that screams that the will of the people is behind government run healthcare?!?
This should make you violently angry...our policymakers aren't listening to us, or the saner of the congressmen.
